The Cleveland Cavaliers didn't have to make a move before the NBA trade deadline expires to get LeBron James the point guard he wished for. Deron Williams will reportedly sign for the Cavaliers once he has cleared his waivers.

LeBron James has been very vocal about his displeasure with the current backup point guard situation of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Adding Deron Williams to the Cavs lineup more than satisfy what LeBron has asked the Cleveland team to do.

Though the Cavs did make a move before the NBA trade deadline, it is not to solve the backup point guard problems of the Cavs but to add sharpshooter Kyle Korver to their roster. With Deron Williams in Cleveland Cavaliers uniform for the second half of the season, the Cavs may have just filled up the biggest hole in their system.

Deron Williams is a three-time NBA All-Star and is currently averaging 13.1ppg and 6.9apg. Though he may no longer be as strong a penetrator as he was back then, he can still dish the basketball and punish defenders when he is left alone.

Though there have been reports that Utah Jazz is also interested and is planning to have a reunion with its former All-Start point guard, Deron Williams is expected to sign with the Cavaliers once he has cleared his waivers. Chasing the elusive NBA championship ring instead of raking in salary could be the primary consideration of Williams at this point of his career.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will always be an NBA Championship contender as long as a healthy LeBron James is on its roster. As such, Deron Williams can forego more money as long as he is given the chance to win the Larry O'Brien trophy.

Deron Williams will fit nicely in the pick and roll offense of the Cavaliers. The former All-Star point guard has also teamed up with LeBron during the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
