"NieR: Automata" has just been released today, February 23, in Japan. It's a PS4 game and Square Enix is celebrating its release by giving away free themes. These can be acquired from Japanese PlayStation Store.

The "NieR: Automata" themes include two models of the Ho-299 flight unit that can be seen in the game. There's the white Ho299 Type-B used by the game's YoRHa 2B and the other is the black Ho 299 Type-S used by YoRHa 9S.

According to DualShockers, the "NieR: Automata" themes are of high quality. There's also some amazing illustrations and a different background music for each of them. There are icons and custom sound effects that come with it.

To easily acquire it, creating a Japanese PlayStation Store account is needed as noted by Destructoid. Many others found it hard to create an account before, basically creating an account online. Besides that, many are not familiar or knowledgeable with the Japanese language. However, some guidelines are readily available on the internet now. This makes it easier to get free "NieR: Automata" themes and various other freebies from other games.

Once a player has a Japanese PSN account ready, they only need to download the themes and install them. So long as the PS4 console is set as the primary, the themes can be used for all PS4 accounts. For now, this is the only way fans can acquire the said "NieR: Automata" themes. Square Enix hasn't announced yet whether these will also come to North America and Europe.

"NieR: Automata" is coming to North America on March 7. Meanwhile, Europe has to wait til March 10 for its PS4 launch. The game will also be available through Steam. However, no date is settled as to when that would be.
