The Google Pixel XL is engineered and designed by Google itself, what most people didn't know is that that the device was built by HTC, which has its own U Ultra. Take a look as the Pixel XL competes with its maker and see comparisons made by Stuff.

Design

The Pixel XL's design isn't that inspiring to say the least. It's as common as other Android devices out there with its all-metal frame and glass front. The U Ultra opted to use an all-glass design this time around and it looks stunning.

Screen

The Google's device has a 5.5-inch screen with a 2560x1440 resolution. Its AMOLED panel offers deep blacks and contrast rich enough to rival other flagship phones. The U Ultra has an extra 2-inch screen above its 5.7-inch main display. This offers customizations for shortcuts to the things regularly used.

Camera

The Pixel XL sports a 12MP sensor with quick f/2.0 aperture lens. It's particularly impressive at daylight situations with HRD+ enabled while still brings a solid performance during low-light conditions. The U Ultra also has a 12MP sensor but with OIS. For its video, it has four high-sensitivity mics capable of capturing an immersive 360-degree audio.

Power

Both devices have a Snapdragon 821 with 4GB of RAM. Also, both devices can get a bit hot after gaming marathons.

Storage and battery life

The XL comes with 32GB or 128GB variants in terms of internal storage with unlimited cloud backup with Photos. It has a 3,450mAh battery that can deliver a full day of normal use. The U Ultra starts at 64GB of internal storage but with no 128GB option in India. It sports a 3,000mAh battery but it has to power two set of screens.

Both devices are evenly matched in terms of hardware specs which make it more difficult to see which smartphone is better. However, Android purists will still choose Pixel XL due to its true Android experience over HTC's Sense UI.
