The future has arrived as flying cars are now available for pre-order from Pal-V, a Dutch company that has been experimenting with the same for years. It's dubbed as the world's first commercially available flying car.
According to Slash Gear, engineers and designers have been trying for years to bring flying cars to reality. PAL-V alone had its first prototype back in 2009 and is now confident enough to make its vehicles available on the market. Two types of flying cars are available from the company, the base model Liberty Sport and the premium Liberty Pioneer.
The design of both vehicles is not actually what you would expect on a flying car as the company describes it as a gyroplane of sorts. It's a cross between a helicopter and a trike. PAL-V claims that their vehicles are more stable than a helicopter and more compact than a plane. Although, it still needs a little runway for it to take off unlike a helicopter which can vertically do so.
The introduction of its kind may raise quite a few questions, most notably about the legality and regulations. However, PAL-V explained that the flying cars were designed to comply with existing car regulations as well as aviation both in the US and the European Union. That means no changes of regulations would be required to accommodate the flying cars.
If you're planning to pre-order one of these futuristic vehicles, you will need to save up as the base model alone, Liberty Sport, will set you back $399,000. While the premium one, Liberty Pioneer, is a whopping $599,000. PAL-V is offering down payment options though, for $10,000.
