There have been no words yet of the official release date of "Yuri On Ice" season 2 but fans believe that it is arriving this year particularly in October, which is the same month when season 1 premiered. However, there are some fans who doubt if there would be season 2 at all.

The fact that there have been many anime series that never had a chance to roll for a second season worries most "Yuri On Ice" fans especially that the anime's studio MAPPA lacks confirmation on the follow up season, which ended with season 1 episode 12. "Yuri On Ice" is not based on a novel or a manga but an original anime so fans are wondering whether there will be more follow up stories to tell.

On the plus side, writer Kubo Mitsurou previously said that he will be pouring out his energy on "Yuri On Ice" and he has many plans in the works with the director, which includes creating a sequel. This gives fans high hopes that season 2 is indeed possible.

With only 12 episodes in season 1, fans were indeed pleased with it and have been hoping to see more of it through rolling in for another season. In fact, the anime won Crunchyroll's Anime Awards as Anime of the Year on Jan. 28 with 44 percent votes, which surpassed "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress," "ERASED," "Mob Psycho 100," "My Hero Academia," "Joker Game," "Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū" and "Re:Zero."

According to the press release, all of these were nominated by a panel of judges. Reports say that "Yuri On Ice" also won various other awards on Jan. 10 like the Most HeartWarming Scene for The Kiss with 55 percent votes, Best Boy for Yuri Katsuki that earned 58 percent votes and more.
