Following Katie Cassidy's appearance in "Arrow" Season 5 again as a parallel version of Laurel Lance, fans are wondering if they will continue seeing her in the future episode. Showrunner Marc Guggenheim has quickly responded to this and it did sounds hopeful for everyone.
Speaking to TV Line, "Arrow" executive producer Marc Guggenheim said that they do have plans and ideas on how to get her back in the series although she is no longer a series regular and that they will have to have a contract with her. "And she's got to be available, and we haven't had those conversations. But we do have an idea. We know exactly what we do want to do," Guggenheim explained.
Guggenheim went on to say that there are just ‘human realities as well as contractual realities' that ties on everyone's hands running the series although they are trying to make the process ‘invisible' when it comes to storytelling. It does sound that showrunners have been planning on how to have Cassidy back in "Arrow" although it also signifies difficulties to get her back as she is no longer under contract. The series already has plans in place for fans to see the version of Laurel Lance again but it sounds that they will have to discuss it with Cassidy yet.
At the end of "Arrow" season 4, Laurel Lance met her death at the hands of Damien Darhk and during the series' 100th episode, which was aired in November 2016 at the annual crossover event; Laurel appeared through a hallucination sequence as well as in the midseason premiere in January. The last time that fans saw Cassidy was when she played the role of the evil Earth-2 doppleganger Black Canary, the villain Black Siren for season 5 "Big Bad, Prometheus" where she was defeated by Team "Arrow" and was jailed in an ARGUS facility.
