"Yuri on Ice" has captured the heart of its audience for its not-so-typical-story. The original flow of the story made the series as one of the best Anime Series of 2016. "Yuri on Ice" anime series received numerous awards including the Anime of the Year Award in the inaugural Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
"Yuri on Ice" received the Best Animation award (rookie). It also received Most Heartwarming Scene from the episode, The Kiss. In addition, the main characters, Yuri K. and Victor, were cited as the Best Couple, while Yuri K. was awarded Best Boy. Aside from that, "Yuri on Ice" was hailed as Anime of the Year for 2016 including Best Opening and best Closing Awards. "Yuri on Ice" conquered social media as the most tweeted anime series in 2016.
Season 2 Update
In a translated interview, Mitsuro Kubo was quoted saying that for the rest of the year she will be pouring all her energy into "Yuri on Ice." The writer and the brain behind the phenomenal anime series further said that she has a lot of plans in the works with the director for 2017, which includes the wish to create a sequel. Moreover, she said that she is doing her best and working hard for that reason.
In addition, Toyonaga Toshiyuki disclosed another revelation about a possible "Yuri on Ice" season 2. He is a popular Japanese voice actor, singer and songwriter, behind the voice of the lead protagonist (Yuri Katsuki) of "Yuri On Ice." In an interview with Spoon 21, revealed that the series' writer, Mitsurou Kubo, had said that she already had some ideas for new content.
