Art Directors Guild Awards' top movie prizes were divided into three categories: the contemporary film, fantasy film and period film. "La La Land" won the fantasy film, "Passengers" for the contemporary film while "Hidden Figures" took the best period film trophy home.

"La La Land" is the front-runner into the Oscars although the Art Directors nod doesn't guarantee of future gold where only 13 out of the 20 previous top Art Directors Guild Award winners span all three top categories that headed to the Oscars. In 2016, the top ADG winners were "The Martian," "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "The Revenant."

As for the top TV winners, "Westworld" won the One-Hour Period or Fantasy Single-Camera Series, renouncing "Game of Thrones" a fifth trophy, "Mr. Robot" also walked off with the contemporary award while "The Night Of" won the TV movie or limited series award. Other TV winners include "Mozart in the Jungle," "Saturday Night Live" and Beyonce's Lemonade for premium service.

Gene Allen, Oscar-winning "My Fair Lady" production designer was also inducted into the Art Directors Guild Hall of Fame and Brad Bird, the two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker also received the Cinematic Imagery Award - this one is given to people whose work in the film industry has deeply enhanced the visual part of the moviegoing experience. Scenic artist Albert Obregon, production designer Rene Lagler, senior illustrator Joseph Musso and set designer Cate Bangs were also presented the Four Lifetime Achievement Awards.

"I love the arts, all of the arts," Brad Bird said adding that he doesn't know what he would be if art did not exist. Cate Bangs also said that the workforce in Hollywood remains to be the best in the world. "I wish to thank the Guild for this great honor - a lifetime achievement award makes one take stock," she said.
