Google has just confirmed that it will be introducing VoIP integration to its Google Voice. This announcement has been made just after Google introduced an update to Voice that overhauled its interface. The tech company also assured its users that regular updates will be made.
The update to Google Voice is the first update that the tech giant introduced to its voice app in five years. The update gave the app not only a simpler but a more intuitive interface.
Although the recently introduced update is a welcome sign that Google has not forgotten its voice app, it did not do any significant change to the app. The recent update is basically a redesign of how the app's interface looks like.
However, Google has given an assurance that there are more updates to come and these will not just be another facelift to the voice app's interface. The tech giant has confirmed that regular updates are underway.
Another promised feature that will be coming to the tech company's app is the Google Voice VoIP integration. The Search Engine Company stated that this feature is already currently being developed.
Introducing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) will be a significant change to Google's voice app. According to 9to5Google, WiFi calling will be made available on all devices. This will be used in cases where cellular service is unavailable.
The VoIP being developed by Google for its voice app will allow users to make calls using other devices but will go through as if the user is making a regular call as the user's number will be used. This being developed feature will allow Google Voice users to make calls through the internet.
As of this moment, the voice app is only available in the United States and Canada. With the introduction of the Google Voice VoIP, the tech company may be thinking of expanding the app's coverage.
