Marvel and Square Enix will be working together to develop "The Avengers" video game. This has been confirmed by Marvel in its twitter post showing a teaser trailer of the project.
Square Enix is the game publisher behind the popular "Final Fantasy" video game series and a number of other popular video game titles. According to reports, the project with marvel will be based on the heroes of "The Avengers".
Part of the development of the new video game is to recognizable names in the field. Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal will be handling the project.
Eidos Montreal is the name behind "Deus Ex. Crystal Maiden is the game developer of the "Tomb Raider" reboot.
No details have been released by Square Enix and Marvel as to who among the heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be included in the video game. Judging by the teaser trailer alone, it seems Iron Man, Captain America and Thor will be in it. A teaser for the upcoming "The Avengers" video game featured Iron Man's gauntlet, the shield of Captain America and Thor's Hammer.
The announced collaboration between Square Enix and Marvel has sent shockwaves in the video game community given the vastness of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the achievements of Square Enix when it comes to video games. Marvel has already dropped some hints about the new "The Avengers" video game project in its YouTube channel. However, these notes were already deleted.
The news that a video game is being developed based on heroes of Marvel could not be more timely. Fans of the studio have already been anticipating the release of several movies featuring its superheroes.
Aside from "The Avengers" several video games featuring Marvel superheroes are also set to launch. The "Marvel vs Capcom Infinite" is set to be released in the later part of 2017 while a Spider-Man video game is currently being developed by Sony.
