As soon as showrunners confirmed “Mayans MC,” which is the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff series, fans immediately wanted to find out whether or not Charlie Hunnam will be reprising his role as Jax Teller. Unfortunately, based on series creator Kurt Sutter’s recent statements, it does not look like Jax is coming back.

“I have a sense of ‘Sons’ being four chapters,” Sutter said, according to Nerdcore Movement. “If ‘Sons’ was the first chapter, then I see the ‘Mayans’ as the second chapter. It is after the death of Jax Teller.”

Clearly, the message that Sutter wanted to get across was that the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff will be picking up following the death of Hunnam’s character. At present, the status of the spinoff show has not been finalized yet.

According to a report, more episodes will be ordered for the series if its pilot episode fares well with its TV audience. With the cult following that the “Sons of Anarchy” had during its timeslot on FX, it is not hard to imagine that the spinoff will do good, as well.

Considering that the show will follow through with the events after Jax died, this could only mean that the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff will also be looking further into the body count that he left, too. According to Sutter, the show will delve into the repercussions of Jax’s impulsive actions.

“We are going to play the reality of that last day and the events that happened with who he killed that day,” Sutter added. He even gave a few details about Emilio Rivera’s character in the upcoming “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff.

Rivera will portray the role of the president of the Mayans MC, Marcus Alvarez. “His character is kind of the glue that holds the two mythologies together,” Sutter continued, referring to the original “Sons of Anarchy” show and the spinoff. “So, we make reference to that last day and, perhaps, the impact it may have had.”
