After the end of "Sons of Anarchy" Season 7 way back in December 2014, fans are eagerly waiting for updates on its spin-off. After remaining silent for a really long time on the upcoming show, creator Kurt Sutter finally shared good news on his social media account confirming the "Mayans MC" series. However, could this mean that we won't be seeing Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) on the much-awaited spin-off series?
Even before the show's finale, it had been long rumored that there was to be a spin-off series. In May of this year, FX Networks officially confirmed that the development on the long-rumored "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off series called "Mayans MC" had finally begun.
According to a report, "Mayans MC" is still in pre-production and that Sutter has been working on the project for months. Moreover, the creator hinted on what the series will all be about.
According to one report, it is clear that the new series will be based on the Mayans motorcycle club that worked with and against Jax & Co. throughout the seven seasons of "Sons of Anarchy", however, it seemed like Charlie Hunnam's character will not be in the series.
To recall, Charlie Hunnam, who's playing as Jax Teller was reportedly had a misunderstanding with the show's creator Kurt Sutter. However, Sutter recently teased fans that the Mayans series suggest Hunnam might have a cameo.
In a photo he posted on Instagram, Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) and Marcus Alvarez (Emilio Rivera) were together with a caption "My favorite kind of family. Dysfunctional. #MayansMC #SOA."
Kurt Sutter and Elgin James will both be the co-creators and executive producers of the show.
Variety reported that the most interesting move on the new series is actually happening behind the camera.
Kurt Sutter has hired Elgin James to be his co-creator on the show. James will write the pilot that is being pitched as a "dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the 1% outlaw, this time reflected through a Latino lens."
Sutter said he brought James on board because he "wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice. I didn't think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice."
At the moment, there is no officially announced "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off series release date and whether Charlie Hunnam will appear on the series. Moreover, some reports speculate that the upcoming series will premiere by fall next year.
