The "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off entitled, "Mayans MC" will begin production in March. While many fans were expecting to see Charlie Hunnam back in the FX series as Jax Teller, the 36-year-old actor has confirmed that he will not be reprising his role.

Charlie Hunnam will not reprise his role as Jackson "Jax" Teller in the upcoming "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off series. While many fans were disappointed to hear this news, Hunnam recently told EW that he is excited to see Kurt Sutter's new drama on TV.

"I really think that, honestly, anything that Kurt [Sutter] is doing I'm excited about," he shared.

Hunnam gushed that the "SOA" director is "a phenomenal writer and has such a unique voice and vision," which is one of the reasons he will be tuning in to the "Mayans MC." The spin-off series will be focusing on the Mayans motorcycle club that was introduced in the original "Sons of Anarchy" series.

It makes perfect sense as to why Hunnam will not be in the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off; his character, Jax, died during the show's series finale. Aside from this, the "Mayans MC" has to stand on its own without Hunnam, as the focus should be on the members of the Mayans motorcycle club.

Despite this sad news, Hunnam previously told TMZ that he is open to doing a dream sequence in the "SOA" spin-off series. This seemingly lifted fans' spirits and hopes to see the actor back as his infamous bad boy biker role.

So what is Hunnam doing nowadays? As Comicbook.com reports, Hunnam will be starring in the upcoming movie, "The Lost City of Z."

Hunnam will also be playing the role of King Arthur in the movie, "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword." Hunnam has played a variety of roles and took on different movies after "Sons of Anarchy" concluded its run on FX in 2014 such as "Pacific Rim" and "Crimson Peak."
