The Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain will be the center of smartphone universe this coming Feb. 27, 2017. The past MWCs have seen the launch of flagship smartphones and this year's tech show will be no different as top brands LG, Nokia, Motorola, HTC, Huawei and BlackBerry are reported to make some noise at this year's MWC. However, an appearance of the Samsung Galaxy S8 may steal the spotlight away from the other MWC smartphones.

LG will try to steal the MWC spotlight as it has scheduled its own event a day before the tech show in Barcelona begins. According to reports. LG will be debuting its new flagship phone, the LG G6, in its own tech event. The LG G6 is rumored to feature the modular design unveiled by LG in the previous year's MWC. The LG G6 will be powered by the latest Android Nougat.

Another brand to look out for in this year's MWC is BlackBerry. The smartphone maker is said to attempt a comeback and will include its BlackBerry Mercury as one of the 2017 MWC smartphone features.

After making a splash in the smartphone market in China with its Nokia 6, the smartphone maker is slated to release the Nokia 8 in the 2017 Mobile World Congress. Xiaomi is also expected to unveil the Xiaomi Mi 6 at this year's MWC. The Moto G5 Plus from Motorola is also expected to be an MWC smartphone feature as Motorola has reportedly sent invites for its own MWC press event.

Impressive as they are, the Mobile World Congress smartphone roster may all be sidelined if Samsung decides to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S8. Though Samsung has been one of the key participants in the annual MWC events, experts believe that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will not be one of the 2017 MWC smartphones. After the disastrous 2017 due to the fiasco created by the Note 7, the tech giant is rumored to take its time in developing the Samsung Galaxy S8.
