Rumors and speculations about the yet to be released Apple iPhone 8 have been appearing more often lately especially since the Cupertino Tech giant is said to release its new flagship smartphone this 2017 to celebrate the iPhone's 10th year anniversary. Recent reports about the iPhone 8 suggest that the it will have an IP68 water and dust resistance rating.

Apple and Samsung have been battling each other for smartphone supremacy in recent years and it certainly looks like things will remain the same this year. After launching an iPhone 7 with a water resistance rating of IP67, the Cupertino Tech company is said to release an iPhone 8 that can match the IP68 rating that the Samsung units currently have.

The current IP67 rating that the iPhone 7 features make the Apple smartphone resistant to water related damages caused by immersion to water with a depth of 1 meter for about 30 minutes. The dust resistance rating of the iPhone 7 protects the smartphone from ingress of any dust for at least eight hours.

With the IP68 dust and water resistance rating upgrade, the Apple iPhone 8 will be at par with Samsung flagship smartphone units in one of the key battlegrounds for this year's best smartphone. The IP68 dust and water resistance rating will make the Apple iPhone 8 very capable of handling immersion to water with a depth of 1.5 meters for about 30 minutes.

To make the IP68 possible, Apple will be dishing adhesives in favor of waterproof tapes just like what Samsung has done with its smartphones. Also, reports that Apple might return to the "glass sandwich" construction for the iPhone 8 has surfaced. This news may be in conjunction with the dust and water resistance upgrade that the iPhone 8 will reportedly have.
