Samsung is currently hard at works on the long-awaited successor to its now-defunct, Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. The next generation flagship device is said to come bearing the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 moniker.
While the internet is rife with reports indicating that the South Korean handset maker is currently gearing up to launch the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ gear on March 29, there's also hearsay that Samsung is on the verge of unveiling the equally anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is trotted out as the revival of the company's controversy-plagued Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. It's no secret that Samsung would be looking to amend its run down reputation, thanks to the Note 7 fiasco, by rolling out the next generation iteration of the ill-fated device. Taking that into consideration, it is hardly surprising that the purported smartphone has been codenamed "Great."
Samsung Galaxy Note 8: Codename & Model Number
The international unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will come bearing the SM-N950F model number. The letter at the end of the number will vary based on the market, SamMobile reported.
Samsung used too many model numbers with its previous generation Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones. However, the tech firm is highly unlikely to make use of multiple model numbers this time around. This is done in order to ensure hassle-free roll out of the software updates.
Last month, Twitter account @Universeice posted an image showing just the S Pen claiming that the Galaxy Note 8 would carry the "Baikal" codename. However, multiple sources have now suggested that the Note 7 successor's codename may have been changed to "Great."
The codename associated with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphone points to an array of exciting features that are likely to sweep smartphone lovers off their feet. Apparently, Samsung wants to leave no stone unturned in the bid to lure back the Galaxy users who abandoned the brand amidst the Note 7 debacle.
Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7
While gadget freaks are going berserk over the looming arrival of Samsung's next Galaxy brand smartphones, there's word floating around that the tech firm may actually be working on a refurbished Note 7 simultaneously. Manufactured exclusively for the South Korean market, the device is said to feature model number SM-N935 and "Grace R" codename, where "R" indicates Refurbished.
It can be recalled that the company's Galaxy Tab S3 event was cut short by a Greenpeace protestor, who carried a flag bearing Samsung's logo with #GalaxyNote7 and a recycle logo with the message "Rethink, Reuse, Recycle." The protestor wanted to suggest that Samsung recycles those components that now sit untouched after the Note 7's discontinuation. Latest reports indicate that the organization could get what it wants.
Although nothing is set in stone at the moment, more details about the next Galaxy Note flagship smartphones are likely to surface online. Watch this video footage for more details and share your thoughts about the impending Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in the comments section below!
