While smartphone enthusiasts are still going berserk over the recently launched Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ smartphones, it looks like Samsung is quietly prepping to unveil the successor to the now-defunct Note 7 dubbed as the Galaxy Note 8.

Citing the skyrocketing hype around the Galaxy Note 8, it is hardly surprising that the heritor of the fiery smartphone has been subject to a slew of rumors and leaks. Lining with this, the Note 8 has found its way on the internet once again in the form of a leaked image, giving Samsung fanatics their first peek at the long-rumored smartphone.

This Galaxy Note 8 leak coming from a Chinese source (via BGR) alludes to an unnamed version of the Note 8 smartphone. However, after taking a closer look at the purported handset, the report says, it seems to bear a striking resemblance to the new Galaxy S8+, with an S Pen (which gives it the 'Note' feel).

The leaked image surfaced online on Saturday, April 8 and even SlashLeaks doesn't vouch for the genuineness of the leaked image, giving it a trust score of just 20 percent. Nevertheless, if the image proved to be real, it looks like Samsung's personal assistant Bixby will be making an appearance on the upcoming phablet, TrustedReview reported.

Moreover, the South Korean handset manufacturer will be using an identical edge-to-edge screen from the Galaxy S8, S8+ smartphones. While it remains to be seen whether or not the leaked image is the real deal, readers are advised to take the leak with a huge grain of salt.

Samsung's mobile chief, D.J. Koh spoke with CNet earlier this year shedding more light on exactly why the Note 7 caught fire. While talking about the company's plans to amend its rundown reputation, Koh confirmed that Samsung will bring out a "better, safer and very innovative Note 8."

That being said, the leaked image doesn't seem to sport any of the previously guaranteed features. It's worth noting, though, this leaked image only gives us a brief glimpse of the face of the Note 8. Notably, even a slot for the S Pen is not to be seen.

Although the leaked image does not align with previously rumored specs, the recently leaked schematics of the Galaxy Note 8 claims the smartphone will feature a near bezel-less display design. The device could sport a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 4K resolution (3840×2160 pixels).

Furthermore, the leak suggested that Samsung will get rid of the home button on the Galaxy Note 8 and replace it with a speaker grille. The volume rockers and the power button will be placed on the left side of the Galaxy Note 8. There will be a dedicated Bixby button on the right.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset; however, other reports point to an Exynos 9-series chipset powered Note 8. It will come with 6GB of RAM, and roughly 256GB of internal storage.

Concrete details about the Galaxy Note 8 are likely to surface online in near future. Stay tuned in here for more Samsung Galaxy-related news and updates.
