"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild" is going to be on Nintendo Wii U - and then it is going to be its final adieu. Wii U has been replaced with Nintendo Switch, but the company decided to unleash "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" as a parting gift.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed that "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is going to be the last first-party game that they will release for Nintendo Wii U. However, third-party developers may still release for Wii U should they choose to.

Fils-Aime also stressed the dreaded fact: Nintendo Wii U is dead. The unit themselves will never be sold as far as Nintendo is concerned. It is only Nintendo eShop that will still continue to sell titles though, including the much-anticipated "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." There are further discussions as well regarding a possible culmination of online services that were intended for Nintendo Wii U, Polygon reported.

Lastly, Fils-Aime admitted that there are lessons that Nintendo Wii U gave them that they used in making the Nintendo Switch. Among them was the heartbreaking variety of answers that people gave when asked about the Wii U. The responses only showed that people don't really know much about the console, Fils-Aime concluded.

Meanwhile, there is an interesting development for those who still cling to Nintendo Wii U. Several projects that include "Project Giant Robot" is heading into the dwindling Nintendo Wii U game library. "Project Giant Robot" is nearing its final stages of development and pegged a "to be determined" release date in its announcement, NintendoLife said.

Developer Shigeru Miyamoto hopes to breathe an extension into Nintendo Wii U's life through "Project Giant Robot." Players need to use the accelerometer-powered gamepad and gyroscope to control their giant robot character and topple their opponents, based on the gameplay reveal.
