It's a big week for Tom Clancy's "The Division" with the recently launched State of the Game. Ubisoft has revealed a lot more information regarding the upcoming 1.6 PTS and "Last Stand" DLC.
The most recent blog post from Ubisoft Massive promises bigger and better content via Update 1.6. It includes an expanded game map, new special events, a brand new difficulty level and more. We discuss the major updates below.
The Dark Zone's Northern Front. According to official post, Update 1.6 will open up the northern parts of the Dark Zone, making Dark Zone 7, 8 and 9 finally be accessible. The devs consider it a proper expansion, with the three new areas almost doubling the current playable Dark Zone area.
The developers refuse to say more on the matter, stating that they'd rather have the players' experience the new locations for themselves. They do throw in a word of caution, though; Dark Zones 7 to 9 are, as they put it, "especially dire."
Contamination Events. As if the Dark Zone wasn't already unwelcoming, the 1.6 update will add contaminated body bags piled up in subways below the Dark Zone. This will strengthen the virus in those areas, effectively turning them into active hot zones. The Cleaners will be arriving by the hour to burn them-and everything else that gets in their way.
Players must stop the Cleaners while keeping an eye on their health. According to game devs, the virus filter will be too weak against the contamination levels in those areas. You can read more about it here.
Nerfs for Alpha Bridge Gear Set. A nerf to this particular gear set has been a long time coming, reports Game Rant-so much so that veteran players of "The Division" have practically been expecting it.
With its 4-set gear perk and ability to let players stack six weapon talents on a single gun, it becomes a "PvE shredding machine." While the exact nerfs have yet to be specified, the developers can only assure the players that the Alpha Bridge gear set "will still be good."
Legendary Difficulty. To up the challenge factor for hardcore players, a Legendary difficulty mode has been added to three missions in the game - Times Square, WarrenGate Power Plant, and Napalm Production Site. Supposedly more challenging than even the Heroic Incursions, Legendary mode is meant to push players, testing their build, tactics, and group synergy.
More details can be found in the blog post linked above. Ubisoft Massive plans to release Update 1.6 and 'The Last Stand' expansion simultaneously. Tom Clancy's "The Division" Update 1.6 will be released for free on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
