Since Nokia has made it clear that its big comeback is in 2017, several images of what is believed to be the Nokia P1 have gone viral on the internet. These images, however, turned out to be that of Sharp Aquos P1, which is being designed by engineers at Sharp and InFocus, a Foxconn subsidiary.

Foxconn is Nokia's manufacturing partner, which acquired Sharp early last year, in a deal worth $3.8 billion. It has since started producing Sharp-branded handhelds for release in Japan and China, thereby associating the rumors even more.

A broad leak of what may be the Nokia P1 was circulated on a Russian website, but it doesn't state where the information was gotten. Apparently, the phone is related to the Sharp Aquos Xx3, a Japanese smartphone, which is also known as the Aquos P1 in Taiwan, as reported in Digital Trends.

Nokia P1 Rumored Specifications

The specs leaked for the Nokia P1 match with the Sharp phone, but with a few variations. Apparently, it will have an Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU, a 5.3-inch, a full HD Sharp IGZO 120Hz screen with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, 3500mAh battery with Quick Charge 4, as mentioned on a Russian website Worket.

Other features allegedly revealed include a 22.6MP rear camera (identical to Sharp Aquos Xx3), with dual-tone LED Flash, but with Carl ZEISS optics and a 4K Video recording. Additionally, a 6GB / 128GB / 256GB internal memory, an expandable memory of up to 256GB with microSD, plus Android 7.0 Nougat. Along with an Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, it comes also with IP55 / IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance.

Reported Price and Launch For The Nokia P1

Many suggest that the Sharp Aquos P1 will be rebranded as the Nokia P1 for launch in Europe a few months from now, but there is no concrete proof to back this up. Moreover, Digital Trends was told the price will start at around $800 and may stretch up to $950 for the top-specification model. For now, we wait for an official announcement from the company itself before we make any conclusions.
