"Arrow" season 5 returns next week, and there has already been a lot revelation about what fans can expect in the upcoming run, which includes the return of Laurel Lance and Felicity Smoak going dark this season. To further excite fans, reports claim that "Arrow" season 5 will also feature more flashbacks in Russia, that will seem to center on Dolph Lundgren's character Konstantine Kovar and the Bratva.
"We're going to do a Russia-centric episode, a flashback-centric episode like we did in the first three years of the show," Marc Guggenheim said in an interview with Comic Book. "We'll be doing that later on in the season and that will have Dolph Lundgren's character, Konstantin Kovar, very much front and center." Guggenheim also said that they are aware of the excitement that fans have for both Lundgren and the Bratva in "Arrow" season 5 which also garnered a lot of social media attention.
Making an episode that focuses on the flashback is a good way to fill in some back story for "Arrow" season 5. "Russia is very much in the zeitgeist these days, and coming into the back half of the year, we're doing a lot more with Russia," Guggenheim continued as he could not give more details about what will be included in the episode. However, he teased that there might be some "political subtext" in the latter half of "Arrow" season 5.
Marc Guggenheim said that in that episode, Dolph Lundgren's character will have an important meeting with a very corrupt, American multimillionaire businessman. He also mentioned that these events will take place in episode 12 and the Russia-centric episode might take place in episode 13 of "Arrow" season 5.
