The Skyrim Script Extender may soon find its way back to the "Skyrim Special Edition" after the game lost it last year. Fans are excited for its return because of the vital functions it provides gamers.

Update removed SKSE

In October last year, most mods for "Skyrim Special Edition" were not anymore compatible with the game. This was mainly blamed to the loss of the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) which helped the game run mods and handle commands.

"Skyrim Special Edition has been released, and the original SKSE will not work with it," the team earlier revealed on its website. Many were saddened with the update and the effect of this to the mods for the game.

New SKSE version this March

However, there is some good news for the players as the Skyrim team is planning to bring back the SKSE with an update this coming March. During that time, game developers said the update will make available a beta version of the Script Extender with a complete version coming after a few weeks.

"We are creating SKSE64 for the new 64-bit Special Edition. We appreciate your patience while work continues," the team mentioned. "Currently we estimate a mid-March time frame for a beta release of SKSE64."

When it comes out this March, the Script Extender will be dubbed "SKSE64" which is a name different from the original edition. Those who have not yet updated their "Skyrim Special Edition" can still use the old Skyrim Script Extender.

Excited fans

Fans are now eagerly waiting for the SKS's release since it would help them make the game's mods work. This will make gameplay more exciting and fun again for the gamers.

Launched in October 2016, the "Skyrim Special Edition" arrived for PS4 and Xbox One owners. Steam also offered the game as a free upgrade for their subscribers.
