"Gears of War," "Halo" and "Forza Horizon" - these are all that Microsoft Xbox One can offer from their list of exclusive games and no more. Escalating the dilemma of Xbox One is that there are no rumored sequels for either that will see 2017. Is Microsoft facing a shaky year?
What could be the biggest hope for Microsoft Shocker is the upcoming E3 event where Phil Spencer implied that they are cooking something big. Gamers could only hope that it is going to be an announcement of new game, remastered, new IPs or anything not Project Scorpio. Xbox have the new flashy console but new games is simply a factor that comes ahead of consoles.
GamingBolt named Shinobi as an insider with good track record who leaked that all that Xbox One can revolve for now are more "Gears of War," "Halo" and "Forza Horizon." There is no developer commissioned to make a first-party game nor any Microsoft exclusive coming soon. Of course, it can be argued that there is "Sea of Thieves" and another is "Rare" in the pipeline but not coming so soon.
These Xbox One duo has certain backlash of their own. "Sea of Thieves" need to perform really well to replicate success of Gears, Halo or Forza. Other than current Xbox One trend, "Sea of Thieves" is still on the rise and not yet a superstar. "Rare" on the contrary, is simply in silent mode and threading a thin ice.
Shinobi602 also revealed that Spencer is not so keen in third-party exclusive because it doesn't grow their brand (sounds like Nintendo philosophy, eh?). The problem with Xbox One developing new IPs is significant resources and capital to pull off the stunt. Meaning, Xbox One might not thread that path for the meantime neither.
Again, E3 is the way to go for information about what Xbox One and mother company Microsoft might be in store. Take everything with a sizeable grain of salt until then.
