"Prey 2" has been cancelled - this is the reality that can't be changed but question lingers as to the reasons behind its untimely demise so Bethesda Softworks vice-president Peter Hines provided the answer.

Hines discussed with Xbox magazine the reason behind the fall of "Prey 2" which was supposed to be in the portfolio of Arkane Studio. The latter was commissioned by Bethesda to proceed with the second iteration, "Prey 2."

Bethesda simply issued a "matter of fact" statement that they saw "Prey 2" as potential disaster if it is going to proceed with current path and there is no room moving forward. However, not everything about "Prey 2" is closed because Bethesda confirmed that they called to Arkane for a fresh start. Meaning, "Prey 2" have to simply start over scratch - a project rebooted through its beginning, DigitalTrend reported.

Hines also clears out that what Arkane is currently doing with "Prey 2" has nothing to do with the predicaments they experienced prior to takeover. Arkane has no involvements in whatsoever precedes "Prey 2" cancellation. In fact, Arkane is more of a troubleshooter in attempts to salvage "Prey 2." However, restarting the series looked better instead of proceeding with a sequel, GameTransfers said.

So why call another developer to troubleshoot the game in the first place? Given the Arkane's track record and excellent run with hit AAA "Dishonored" series, "Prey 2" could be in better hands with them, Hines stressed. What remains to be seen is the future of the game and how would the final piece looks like.

At any rate, "Prey" will unleash this 2017 on multi-platform PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Make no mistake about it, this Bethesda iteration is a restart of the series so gamers should do well scrapping everything they know about the original. This new "Prey" is action science-fiction first person shooter that sports different gameplay and mechanics.
