A major PlayStation 4 update will be coming soon and all are invited to participate in the Beta Testing this spring. Just like Sony's September 2016 4.00 update, the Beta test will be happening a month before the company globally releases the update.

Polygon reports that Sony posted the news on the gaming console's official PlayStation Blog, and gamers who are interested in the Beta Test can register now. The gaming console's 4.05 version trial period starts sometime this month and testers, 18 years old and above can only take part on Sony's Beta test.

However, registration does not guarantee an automatic participation, which previous beta tester are aware from the rules. There are also no official news Sony has released other than the mentioned above or a starting date is nowhere to be found.

Meanwhile, there are other console owners that voiced out their concerns and expectations on Twitter for the upcoming event. According to Gamespot, there is no official news of when the 4.05 update for the PlayStation 4 will arrive. But the beta itself will start early in February, and once it begins, Sony will cut off new registrations.

For comparison, the previous PS4 4.00 update became available for beta testers in August last year, before officially launching the update in September. With that said, there is enough reason to believe that Sony will do the same thing with the PS4 4.05 update.

Official testers will be advised to download the beta version of the system update the day beta trial starts. Should testers feel the urge to back out or end the trial early, Sony said that they are free to roll back to the previous system software version at any time.

The publication also added that Sony has just sold off 6.2 million consoles during the holiday season. That boosted worldwide sales to a total of more than $53.4 million.
