"Overwatch" public test realm is intended to test updates before game developers released in to the public. It seems to be that the upcoming patch will make new changes, especially on Roadhog and the hero's hook ability.
Gamespot reports that principal designer Geoff Goodman outlined the latest round of changes in a forum post. The new PTR updates for the online shooting game adds more line of sight checks towards left/right potential hook targets for Roadhog.
Goodman explained that it should be easier to hook someone who is near a doorway or behind a pole. Goodman added that the checks are also used for the persistent line of sight check. So, if the hook target moves behind a slim object, the target won't be released anymore.
In addition, targets in the air will have different effects when Roadhog uses hook ability to flying characters or airborne characters. The principal director stated that hook targets will now be heavily slowed down while targets are stunned, even if someone is in the air.
Goodman added that if someone is strafe jumping away from Roadhog and the character land a hook, the hero will highly likely to break the hook. The upcoming "Overwatch" update also addresses a bug that allows players to hook someone and pull the target behind said player, if said player spun around before the hook landed.
Meanwhile, PC World reports that characters, Ana and Sombra, will also have tweaks as well. Ana's Biotic Grenade duration will be reduced from five seconds to four, while Sombra's hack cool down will be decreased to eight seconds instead of 12.
The update comes a week after Blizzard made its first round of changes to the big man's grapple that is basically the weakness to Roadhog's hook and the character itself. It's nice to see that game developers are using PTR to test out balance changes and granular adjustments, taking into account the hero power level and community feedback.
Either way, it remains to be seen if the said PTR Update for "Overwatch" will make it to the final cut onto the live servers or more changes will be added further on.
