Microsoft has not announced the reason behind the removal of Platinum Games "Scalebound" from its Xbox-exclusive game lineup but it confirmed that the game production is now officially cancelled. Reports claimed that the delay in its development is one of the reasons the game was withdrawn from the upcoming 2017 titles for Xbox. Luckily for players, the Redmond-based multinational company is still committed to delivering several "amazing" Xbox titles this year.

After more than four years of development, Microsoft has finally decided to terminate the production of "Scalebound" following a thorough deliberation. Interestingly, Eurogamer already hinted a possible cancellation of the game prior the release of an official statement from Microsoft Studios. Apparently, developer Platinum Games has already ended the project before 2016 wrapped up after a series of complications about its production.

The report claimed that the demands of "Scalebound" became heavy for the main developers, which forced them to take a break for a month. However, they were not able to keep up with the project's schedule, causing them to make a decision not to pursue the game anymore. Apart from missed deadlines, the developing team also encountered problems with the game engine.

Xbox gamers need not worry, however, as Microsoft seems to be gearing up for 2017 with its plan to include "Halo Wars 2," "Crackdown 3," "State of Decay 2," "Sea of Thieves" and more exciting titles to arrive in spring. "Halo Wars 2" is reportedly set to launch on Feb. 21 according to Xbox Wire.

Apart from Xbox games, Microsoft is also looking to release additional contents to some 2016 titles, including "Dead Rising 4," "Forza Horizon 3," "Gears of War 4," "Minecraft" and "ReCore." And for the possible highlight of the year, the company will finally launch Project Scorpio. It is said to be the most powerful console that sports true 4K gaming experience with its six Teraflops graphical processing power.
