The "Destiny" gaming franchise has had a multitude of updates and expansions ever since it was launched in September 2014. Despite having been released only three years ago, it has reportedly already been replaced on various consoles' stores.

Gamers who are new to the "Destiny" franchise and would want to enjoy the full experience only has "Destiny: The Collection" as an option since the original "Destiny" base game is no longer accessible. As pointed out by Game Rant, this change caused a problem for gamers who have older digital codes for the original game.

Despite not being expired, a gamer revealed that his codes no longer work on console stores. After his PS4 broke down, he went to Best Buy to have his console replaced. Considering that he already has all of the "Destiny" expansions, he only wanted to use his digital code for the original game. This way, he can play the base game's digital copy instead of through the disc.

Basically, the user was passed around from Best Buy to Bungie - which the gamer does not know how to contact. The said gamer's woes remain unresolved to date.

The complainant's problem is a warning to other long-time "Destiny" players who might want to switch from disc to digital. They may have to spend $60 for the very same content that has already been previously owned. Fans of the game are well aware that the base game, including all of its expansions and updates, cost them $170. This amount will then be added on top of the $60 "Destiny: The Collection" price.

Bungie has not yet commented on this issue, but its blog site was recently updated with news pointing to a "Destiny 2" release date soon. Late last year, the game maker's job pages had job listings that hinted at narrative changes. Sunday Express reported that the sequel will get a story overhaul.

"Bungie is ramping back up to full strength," the website read. "We will resume the conversation about the rituals that return to 'Destiny' week over week and month over month."
