Square Enix announced another collaboration with the popular Japanese tokusatsu series - Garo during the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn FanFest that was held in Tokyo recently. The developer announced the news in a press release which also stated the release date and details about the crossover equipment.

From an update on Dual Shockers, this collaboration commemorates the launching of Garo's Zero: Dragon Blood series and with Garo Director Keita Amemiya. Amemiya will be designing characters in the "Return to Ivalice" 24-man raid which will be brought on the new expansion, Stormblood. It will be written by Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story Director Yasumi Matsuno.

Also, as The Crunchy Roll reported, contents include the armour of the four main Makai Knights, the outfits of two Makai Priests, and three Madou horses as mounts. It comprises of the following armours:

  • Garo armor
  • Zero armor
  • Kiba armor
  • Dan armor
  • Reo outfit
  • Rekka outfit
  • Goten mount
  • Ginga mount
  • Raigo mount
  • Sword of Kiba Okami

Each armour and outfit will include head, torso, gloves and legs. The new equipment will be released on January 17, 2017, excluding the Chinese and Korean servers, that are run separately. The players could gain the armour and outfits through winning in the Gold Saucer. Other items will be available as PvP rewards, and mounts will be doled out as in-game achievements.

Garo crossover also had a trailer video entitled GARO x FFXIV Collaboration Trailer. The video teases the upcoming expansion, Stromblood as well as gives some information about the new Red Mage job.
