Blizzard Entertainment has just released a statement that it will heavily punish Overwatch players who continue to exploit the Mei Ice Wall ability glitch. The glitch is said to occur during 3v3 Overwatch matches played at its Ecopoint: Antartica arena map.
The Overwatch Mei Ice Wall glitch occurs when players who are using Mei as their character position themselves at a specific corner of the Ecopoint: Antartica arena Overwatch map, crouches down and uses Mei's Ice Wall ability underneath the Overwatch game character. By doing the said actions, Mei will then be sent to the inaccessible area of the upper level of the map. This will then allow players who are using Mei to roam around and have access to parts of the map that are otherwise off limits.
Jeff Kaplan, Game Director of Overwatch, said that their team will be acting against Overwatch players who will continue to exploit the Mei Ice Wall glitch despite the previous warnings from Blizzard and the game developers of Overwatch. Kaplan further stated that Overwatch is made to give players a competitive PvP gaming experience and using the glitch would put the other players at a disadvantage.
Kaplan also stated that exploiting the Overwatch glitch is similar to using a hack, cheat or abusing a game mechanic which Overwatch game developers are taking seriously. The recent Overwatch bug, according to Kaplan, is a form of cheating and encourages Overwatch players to report other players who continue to exploit the Mei Ice Wall glitch.
Overwatch game developers are currently considering two ways to successfully remove the glitch from the game. The solutions that are being eyed by the developers of the Overwatch game involves bug hunting and creating a new game patch to successfully eradicate the recent Overwatch bug. Since the Mei Ice Wall bug is rather difficult to find, Kaplan warned players from further exploiting the Overwatch glitch at the pain of heavy punishment.
