Here comes another tale of a great game ruined by the blunders of its developers. It may be a bit early to lay the verdict on Overwatch, but botched decision making by Blizzard may just lead to its early demise.

It was not so long ago when the gaming community has raved with the introduction of Blizzard's Overwatch. Vince Ingenito of IGN even described the game as a crossroad where design and artistry meet. According to Ingenito, Overwatch has achieved the perfect blend of tactical gaming and intelligent design. The numerous favorable Overwatch review gave the team-based shooting game a rating of 9.4 in IGN. However, this victory is rather short lived as questionable decision making by Overwatch's developer, Blizzard, has caused the Overwatch rating to spiral down the drain.

Since its May 2016 release, the gaming community has clamored different changes for the improvement of Overwatch, but Blizzard Entertainment seem to take the opposite direction. The questionable decision making of Blizzard is highlighted by the petition of all the eight competing teams at MLG Las Vegas which was not heeded by Blizzard. There is no clearer sign that something is wrong in a game than when all competing teams during an E-Sport event complain about the same issue. This issue is about the the predetermined map pool that Blizzard enforced in Overwatch.

The decision of Blizzard to impose the predetermined map pool is said to be an attempt to improve its metagame experience by encouraging diversity in both the maps seen on steam and metagame. However, professional and casual gamers alike sees the Overwatch map bans as not only useless but also hampering the growth of Overwatch in its entirety. The appearance of Ilios in each of the three matches where the map ban is first carried out in the MLG Las Vegas games also proved the argument of the professional gamers that the predetermined map pool is not really achieving the diversity that Blizzard entertainment wants to achieve.
