The critically acclaimed PlayStation 4 exclusive "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" has been selling well since its May 2016 release. Sony recently announced that the game has sold over 8.7 million copies as of Dec. 21, 2016 worldwide including physical and digital copies through the PlayStation Store.
According to GameSpot, the game sold 2.7 million copies in its first week, which is lower than "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception" sales of 3.8 million on its first day. Howbeit, Uncharted 3 has had bigger crowd as it was released during the peak of PlayStation 3's life.
Sony is possibly counting "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" sales in its hardware bundles although it didn't mention during its statistics roll out at CES 2017. The game's package appears to be the PlayStation 4's main bundle, which is one of its top reasons of boosting the sales that continues to rise new heights until now.
"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" has been receiving numerous Game of the Year awards and Naughty Dog continues to release update for its multiplayer. According to Forbes, the game scored a whopping 93 percent on Metacritic, which is close to the top and the sales it's been making is unbelievably high for an exclusive title.
Most companies don't actually disclose sales figures for individual titles but the fact that "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" has been making great sales, Sony's bragging about it definitely makes sense. Many fans also have wished that the Uncharted series did not end decisively although a DLC is coming this year, which is possible that the series will go on with or without Nathan Drake as the lead character.
Naughty Dog is currently getting its hands on the "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy," which is a standalone DLC title. Set in India, the game focuses on the characters Chloe and Nadine (obviously not Nathan Drake) and is expected to arrive later this year.
