The "Halo Wars 2" Ultimate Edition is due on Feb. 21, 2017 and it seems that the Blitz Beta is just around the corner. On Wednesday, the official Twitter account of a fictional AI from the game, Isabel, posted its first tweet and it was cryptic to say the least. However, some found it pretty straightforward. The tweet simply read 01/17/17, which could be the release date of the "Halo Wars 2" Beta Blitz.
The date is also in line with the Feb. 21 release date of the Ultimate Edition. With the release of the beta test, gamers will get a chance to sneak peek into the game's Blitz mode, which is basically a very creative reimagining of the "Halo Wars" formula, writes The Bitbag. If a player is aware of "Duelyst" and "Hearthstone," he should know that this mode transforms the classic RTS gameplay into a turn-based collectible card game.
343 Industries' Dan Ayoub had earlier said that the "Halo Wars 2" Blitz mode draws a lot of inspiration from games like DoTA. Early impressions of the mode were also likened to MOBA with deck-building elements.
"To be honest, it's the sort of mode I would've expected Blizzard to make, given 'Heroes of the Storm,' 'Hearthstone,' and 'Overwatch' -all very forgiving, very welcoming games for genre newcomers, but still possessing an underlying depth. Halo Wars 2, or specifically Blitz mode, fits that bill perfectly," Ayoub had said.
The goal of the Blitz mode is akin to the "Battlefield" series' Conquest mode where there are control and capture points spread throughout the map. Controlling more points produces more victory points over time. As opposed to the conventional method of building bases and harvesting resources, the Blitz mode allows players to create armies by playing cards and spending energy.
Players may need to purchase card packs via real or in-game currency to strengthen their armies. Stay tuned on Mobile & Apps for more updates on "Halo Wars 2" Blits Beta mode and Ultimate Edition.
