Not many horror games have surfaced recently in the gaming community for the existing platforms. However, fans may be surprised with the titles bound to give 2017 nearly unending scares.

As today's generation leans more towards action, tower defense and role-playing games, it is almost probable that there is little room for horror in the gaming world. With the likes of "Until Dawn" lighting up the genre once again in 2015, the year may be following up the trend with its own entries.

Recent reports by IGN claim that the likes of "Resident Evil 7" will bring the frights back to the screens of gamers everywhere. Shifting the perspective to a spine-chilling first-person, the seventh part of the Capcom masterpiece promises to bring viewers back to the horror roots the game is known for.

In talks for a return is the immortalized Jason Voorhees, who finally gets his own time in "Friday the 13th: The Game" by Gun Media. After a massive Kickstarter campaign, the role-playing game lets players use the notorious and arguably the most popular killer of all time in an expected bloody quest for survival and vengeance.

Sequels are no exception, as "Outlast 2" is another entry, following the success of the first, according to their official site. With touches of the run-and-hide essence from the first, players will have to evade the grips of cultists in an eerie area by the Sonoran Desert. The mysteries keep going with "Get Even," another problem solving thriller featuring an investigator trying to uncover realities for the government and the like.

Overkill's "The Walking Dead" is scheduled to release in 201,7 as well, with very little information disclosed for now, along with the zombie survival sequel "State of Decay 2." "Routine," a game that was said to have been in development for quite some time now, has been scheduled for a 2017 release. However, not much has been revealed about it, except the fact that the decisions made within the game will affect the ending.

Those enumerated above are only some of the promised horror games to come out in 2017. Along the way, more are expected to be confirmed and announced for the thrill seekers.
