"No Man's Sky" foundation update proved to be a little too late to save the once Sony behemoth from "winning" the award for being the biggest launch disaster. Total Biscuits Arbitrary Awards 2016 placed "No Man's Sky" foremost in its no-no list.
Award's narrator pointed that "No Man's Sky" is a huge failure in a sense that gamers expected a lot from it. Hello Games and Sony have jointly poured tons of resources hyping "No Man's Sky" but didn't lived up to expectations. In fact, it even came to an incident where a U.K. court heard a case against "No Man's Sky" for false advertising.
Come to think of it, Sean Murray of Hello Games deserve some credit for making the impossible possible. Murray conceptualized too many fireworks and fanfares behind "No Man's Sky" but fizzled upon launch. Foundation update made gamers smile a bit but not sufficient to appease disgruntled "No Man's Sky" players.
Credit too for "No Man's Sky" taking vow of silence after initial impressions and angry throng of fans. Trusted Reviews suspected that Hello Games' foundation update that came thereafter gave a nice mix that prevented that anger into becoming a raging inferno. Good that "No Man's Sky" finally gave reasons to make the game more challenging. But again, this didn't sway Total Biscuits Arbitrary Awards 2016 in "crowning" the ill-fated "No Man's Sky."
Another review from TheWolfHall made a nice argument about "No Man's Sky" in relation to heartbreaks that gamers suffered. Yes, gamers should take part of the blame for not waiting initial wave of reviews from actual players. "No Man's Sky" expectants simply relied heavily on promises.
Meanwhile, other candidates for Total Biscuits Arbitrary Awards 2016 are "The Fable" and "Black and White" from developer Peter Moleneux. However, "No Man's Sky" took the helm of shame from the two, being decent titles still when compared against NMS.
