Huawei Mate 9's entry prefigured the birth of the Hisilicon Kirin 960 chipset. Latest news from a Chinese website, however, revealed the Chinese tech giant is already working on Huawei's Kirin 970.
Recently, many details surfaced involving the impending 2017 processors. Processors are believed to undertake major leaps in power efficiency and performance. Equally, the Snapdragon 835 and the Exynos 8890 have seen frequency details that reach 3 GHz. Although these two are expected to render such performances as the two leading processors in the market, a third contender called Kirin 970 is threatening to take the lead.
Qualcomm, as emphasized in a detailed benchmark breakdown, is not what it used to be. The US tech giant's Kryo cores until now have not delivered to the level of what was expected. Consequently, it was the Kirin 960 that executed beyond expectations.
According to supply chain sources, the Kirin 970 processor will have eight cores. These cores will be allocated in subsets of four each, consisting of the Cortex A73 and ARM's Cortex A53. These then will be clocked at 2.8GHz and 3.0GHz, correspondingly. Moreover, they will be manufactured on the 10nm process and will feature the Cat. 12 baseband.
These last minute reports about the upcoming processors give us something to look forward to in the coming year. To name a few, there is the iPhone 8, the Samsung Galaxy S8, new sets of processors and definitely more upgrades all set to take the stage. However, manufacturers must manage to iron out all the possible kinks prior to their respective product launches, says Wccftech.
