The "Green Lantern Corps" movie is still quite a long way from being out to the public, but there are already resounding rumors and news around the title. After the 2011 rendition became a massive flop, there are film industry critics who cannot help but speak out on what presumably went wrong -- and how the next one could be a success on its own.
"Green Lantern Corps" will be another standalone take on the entities powered by Will, but, this time, the power it will not be bestowedon Hal Jordan alone. The movie will reportedly have two other protagonists who are still unnamed for the moment, as per IMDB.
When asked about "Green Lantern Corps," the former Hal Jordan actor Ryan Reynolds became blunt with EW on what he thought made the 2011 "Green Lantern" movie fail. For one, Reynolds said that the team behind did not seem to know much about what they were making, thus, resulting in a half-baked film. He said further that, unlike "Deadpool," the latter's team knew more about the franchise before moving forward. Meanwhile, "Green Lantern" went more toward showing posters, release dates, scripts and the like, before figuring the story out.
Reynolds also said that the connection between the fans and the character was quite distant. The actor believed that this was vital for the film to take on, but practically failed in that aspect. Nonetheless, fans can expect a 180-degree turn to make the upcoming "Green Lantern Corps" film learn from the erroneous ways of its predecessor.
There are also reports that Armie Hammer ("The Lone Ranger" and "Mirror Mirror") will play the role of Hal Jordan in the "Green Lantern Corps" film via some tweets teasing it. For now, it may be considered too early to tell if the said speculations are true. Hammer himself has yet to comment on the matter.
The "Green Lantern Corps" movie is scheduled to be released in 2020. There will be other DC comic films prior to it, such as the popular "Justice League," set to release in 2017 along with the standalone "Wonder Woman," which stars Gal Gadot.
