"Green Lantern Corps" is one of DC's upcoming stars that apparently still needs a lead to play the role of Hal Jordan, the most popular Lantern of the franchise. Now, a list of those that prove to be viable for the part has emerged online.
According to The Wrap, a new lineup of actors that could very well fit the role of Hal Jordan surfaced, starting with the controversial possible return of Ryan Reynolds. The actor once played the same character back in 2011, with the standalone film not being quite the most favored entry in the Warner Bros. cinematic universe.
More than that, the past troll of actor Armie Hammer ignited the possibility of "The Lone Ranger" being part of the said universe. This is reportedly after communicating with the confirmed Deathstroke actor, Joe Manganiello. Hammer is also known for his other roles in films such as "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and "The Social Network," and was even supposed to play Batman for an unmade "Justice League" flick.
One actor who has not starred in any superhero film is Tom Cruise, who is now being considered for the role of Hal Jordan -- after being a candidate for Iron Man. However, Cruise has confirmed films in the works, namely a continuity of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, as well as "The Mummy." Opposite his experience in superhero movies is Bradley Cooper, who notable for being the voice of Marvel's Rocket Raccoon in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" series. Apparently, Cooper once auditioned for the role.
"Prince of Persia" star Jake Gyllenhaal is also named as being a candidate for the role of Hal Jordan -- and is no longer a stranger to the superhero roles. Gyllenhaal turned down the role of Rick Flagg in 2016's "Suicide Squad" and was even slated to play Peter Parker.
"Green Lantern Corps" is scheduled to release on July 24, 2020 for the USA. For now, fans are urged to take the details with a grain of salt until an official announcement comes forth from the short list of potential actors, which could again change anytime.
