"Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps" has continued to be a fan favorite in terms of bringing quality origins and continuities to the cosmic world. Such would not be possible without the hard work of the artists behind the issue, who apparently find unmatched enjoyment doing so.
The "Rebirth" line of DC Comics is one that brings a whole new imagination to the world of heroes; and with a variety of renditions comes the need for calibrated and experienced artists. This, in particular, called on the services of Rafa Sandoval, now an artist for "Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps."
It has been quite a productive season for Sandoval as per Newsarama, coming up with seven issues in over six months and proving how passionate he has been towards the work with GLC mainstay Ethan Van Sciver. Despite being put right next to one of the veterans around, Sandoval revealed how he had "a good time" sharing the workload with another artist.
Sandoval said that working with Ethan is "great," noting a smooth relationship on how the characters should be designed and staying consistent along the way. He iterated that working with other artists is no longer new to him, although it has never been from the beginning of the book. Nonetheless, Sandoval admitted enjoying the experience all throughout.
Not everything was considerably easy, as Sandoval clarified. "In the beginning I had a bit of a hard time trying to convey Hal's personality but it didn't take long for me to figure that out. Right now, some characters in the Green Lantern Corps give me a hard time every now and then, their shapes and body structures are hard to figure out. I'm slowly getting used to them, though," he explained.
Sandoval is known for his works spanning over nine years with Marvel, then DC, Valiant and finally back to DC. He is finishing up "Hal Jordan and The Green Lantern Corps" #11 and will return in February for #14, bringing Kyle Rayner for "Quest for the Blue Lantern."
