The Samsung Galaxy S8 continues to stir conversations among smartphone lovers, especially those waiting with bated breath for the South Korean handset maker to shed more light on its next smartphone offering. The latest buzz from around the web indicates the upcoming flagship smartphone retaining some features of the now-defunct Note 7.

If rumors running rampant on the web are anything to go by, the Galaxy S8 could come with the iris recognition technology that was first seen on the Galaxy Note 7. However, a local Korean news website Naver (via SamMobile) claims that the S8's iris recognition sensor will not only be comparatively faster, but will also pave the way for Samsung Pass; yet another feature that debuted on the Note 7.

With an impending arrival of the iris recognition technology, the publication hints that Samsung is gearing up to re-engage with financial institutions and banks in order to launch the Samsung Pass service once again. The report also debunks previous speculations hinting that a fingerprint sensor will be embedded under Samsung Galaxy S8's display.

In the wake of initial testing on the fingerprint sensor embedded in the display, which is turning out to be inaccurate, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner could be in the offing since a dedicated sensor is still needed.

If the rumored specs come to pass, the Samsung Galaxy S8 could wind up bearing a striking resemblance to Google's design for its range of Pixel smartphones; the fingerprint sensor technology is placed at the back of the device.

Moreover, the Galaxy S8's display could be a spitting image of the one found on the ill-fated Note 7 smartphone. According to Korean news site, ET News (via AndroidHeadlines), Samsung's Galaxy S8 could come bearing the Note 7's Y-OCTA display technology, which enabled the company to come out with a thinner device while keeping its production cost in check. In addition, the Y-OCTA technology could enable integration of touch sensors.

The 5.7-inch variant of the Samsung Galaxy S8 is likely to come with Note 7's display specs --- including the Y-OCTA technology, as well as the Super AMOLED panels coupled with Quad HD resolution. The alleged 6.2-inch, bezel-less Samsung Galaxy S8 variant, on the other hand, could come bearing a full RGB AMOLED panel as earlier reports indicated.
