While gadget freaks are restlessly waiting to figure out what Apple has in store for them as far as the next generation of their smartphone lineup is concerned, a recently surfaced iPhone 8 specs rumor indicate that the purported Apple phone will come with fingerprint sensors.

Multiple reports have already pointed out: Apple's iPhone 8 will be the much-lauded product line's 10th-anniversary offering. This has also led many to believe that the Cupertino-based tech firm will vie for making next year's iPhone the best one yet. In line with this, BGR recently detailed some specs and features that are most likely to grace the Apple iPhone 8 when it arrives in Sept. 2017.

Among other rumored changes, the Apple iPhone 8 is expected to feature a curved OLED display that would take up a lion's share on the device's front and sides. Aside from that, one of the most talked about changes in the Apple iPhone 8 alludes to the standard home button's elimination. It is worth noting that despite getting rid of it, all features of the contemporary physical home button will be retained. Moreover, the touch ID fingerprint sensor in the home button will not be removed and will be placed below the display itself.

Meanwhile, Synaptics debuted a new fingerprint sensor that can be buried under a mobile device's glass and explained how the technology actually works, MacRumors reported.

The sensors boast a design that's ideal for placing under the glass, close to the bottom bezel of smartphone/tablets. Since it will be placed under the screen, the FS9100 sensor would not only be scratch-proof and waterproof, but will also be able to scan fingerprints even on wet fingers. But that's not all; thanks to its ability to recognize wet fingers, unlocking the phone is likely to get much faster.

Interestingly, there is no direct mention associating the Apple iPhone 8 to the aforesaid sensor. However, another rumored spec for the Apple iPhone 8 links this new sensor to the upcoming smartphone. A slew of earlier reports already indicated that Apple will oust the physical home button in favor of an all-glass design.
