Apple iPhone 8 has been subject to a slew of rumors and leaks that hint at an array of jaw-dropping specs and features for the flagship smartphone.

Famed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has already divulged details regarding the iPhone 8's usable screen area, display size, and design along with the device's new security technologies and core navigation. The revelation comes in the form of a new note to investors acquired by 9To5Mac.

Now, a couple of recently surfaced new leaks suggest Apple is currently hard at works on two different models of its next iPhone at the same time. The most exciting shred of information comes from iDropNews, which cites a Foxconn employee who described Plan A as comprising the following radical changes:

Touch-ID underneath the display in the front.

The entire edge of the device surrounded by 4mm bezels.

The rear of the device housed in a metal frame, while the front sports 2.5D contoured glass.

Wireless charging.

iPhone 7-identical dimensions.

5.8-Inch OLED display.

Front-facing camera buried beneath the display.

Big power button sporting two points of contact.

While Samsung managed to sweep smartphone enthusiasts off their feet with the 'Infinity Display' on the recently launched Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones, Apple has an opportunity to outclass the South Korean handset maker provided it pulls off 4mm bezels all around the new iPhone.

iDrop, in collaboration with Forbes' Gordon Kelly's usual collaborator Benjamin Geskin, created images taking these pieces of information into consideration, and the outcome were nothing short of awe-inspiring. But iPhone fanatics are advised not to get their hopes up yet.

Apparently, Apple already has a safer Plan B in the case that development of this radically overhauled model comes to naught. First off, there could be a considerably larger device which is sizable, wider and thicker than its precursor, the iPhone 7. Let's take a gander at the comparison.

iPhone 7 - 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm

iPhone 8 - 149.5 x 72.5 x 8.6 mm

In addition to that, even the display remains larger as compared to the previous model, meaning, Apple is quite likely to stick to this choice.

Secondly, Plan B hints at a dual camera setup, identical to the iPhone 7 Plus; however, the cameras will now be rearranged from a horizontal to vertical position. It remains to be seen how this alignment will be affecting the device's functionality.

Moreover, the schematics indicate that Apple will resort to an aluminum chassis. If Plan A does not turn out as intended, then it is highly likely so does wireless charging with an additional fallback option of placing the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the rear.

It's worth noting that Samsung was compelled to deviate from its plans to embed a fingerprint sensor into the display of the latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8 and was left with no choice but to gracelessly place it on the back. That being said, it makes sense Apple is keeping a retreat option handy.
