Rumors running rampant suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will boast a pressure-sensitive, bezel-less display. With the rumor mill in full force --- it is now speculated that the South Korean handset maker might be gearing up to launch a couple of flexible display smartphones, which are drastically different from each other.
In order to recover from the blisters created by this year's controversy-plagued Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 7 smartphones, Samsung is rumored to come out with a radical redesign of its flagship Galaxy S and Note lineup. The Note 7 recall burned a deep hole in the company's pocket. As such, Samsung is looking to lure back millions who abandoned the Galaxy Note brand and to earn back profits with its upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8.
On the other hand, latest reports suggest that Samsung has adopted a "two-track" strategy for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 smartphone. Apparently, the company is working on a "dual-screen" smartphone that features two displays --- one at the front and another at the back of the handset --- and another device with a long-rumored, foldable OLED display.
Samsung is said to first analyze market responses for the dual-screen smartphone by rolling out only a few of these devices; then eventually, pushing out foldable smartphones. Japan Display, Inc. will supply displays for the dual-screen smartphone, Yahoo Tech reported. Reliable sources have also confirmed that Samsung will launch its Galaxy handsets with a much-lauded flexible technology, according to a report from Korean website ETNews.
This cutting-edge technology was first spotted at a 2008 trade show, which is now finally good to go into mass production. Two variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 are likely to be foldable: one with a bendable OLED screen and another with a foldable midsection. The second variant, on the other hand, will bear a striking resemblance to a tablet computer with displays at the front and at the back.
After putting the aforesaid Galaxy Note 8 models to test, Samsung will launch its foldable tech for a different smartphone range --- including phablets.
Meanwhile, rumors about the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8 are rife all over the internet --- hinting that the upcoming devices will oust physical home buttons and will boast all-screen, bezel-less displays. A recently surfaced Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8 leak also revealed the company's plan to beef up the internal storage options for its upcoming smartphones to a mammoth 256GB.
