Recently, Samsung has come under fire from its Galaxy Note 7 users --- thanks to the controversy-plagued smartphone's exploding batteries. However, the South Korean handset maker is bent on turning things around with a brand new offering: the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone.
With MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017 just around the corner, more and more reports surrounding a Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs, and other details are likely to surface online. There's also hearsay that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S8 at next year's MWC, but the tech firm has neither confirmed nor denied these rumors. Meanwhile, the rumor mill is running full force with speculations hinting that Samsung will oust the headphone jack and will likewise get rid of the physical home button. However, Samsung might do opt to oust the headphone jack --- to either spawn a thinner device or simply to follow the footsteps of Apple's iPhone 7.
On the other hand, getting rid of the front navigation array is quite a logical decision; burying the physical home button in the lower section's glass enables the company to align itself with the latest design trend, which heavily centers on a smartphone's display --- according to a recent Bloomberg report, based on details divulged by people with direct knowledge of the matter. The said trend is effectively exhibited by the Xiaomi Mi Mix.
Moreover, an anonymous source told the publication that Samsung Galaxy S8 will sport a bezel-less screen. This seems to echo the double curves Samsung introduced in the Galaxy S6 Edge; meanwhile, placing a virtual home button on the device's screen bottom seem to mirror the design concept adopted by Google's Nexus and Pixel phones. It's also worth noting that scraping the home button would imply that the fingerprint reader could be moved at the back of the device, AndroidPolice reported.
If Samsung's updated testing and quality assurance protocols are anything to go by, a Samsung Galaxy S8 release date could arrive sometime in March or April 2017.
