Apple's product release dates are fairly predictable since it has its own cycle, every September year-on-year. Google, however, is unpredictable. They like to keep moving its launches, making them more adaptable and flexible with their models and making sure that everything is right or close to perfection. Thus, Google released the most direct competition of Apple's iPhone 7 in early October: the Google Pixel.

Here are some quick comparisons on Apple's iPhone 7 and Google's Pixel:

If it's about which handset looks more attractive, it's entirely subjective with the user's perspective. Both Google Pixel's and iPhone 7's designs are evidently high-tech, very clean and tidy. Apple has always been with its familiar overall look with its predecessors --- surrounded by a metallic touch, a back panel with neatened antenna bands, and a capacitive-touch Home Key as part of its smoothed exterior aesthetic.

On the other hand, Google looks a little less extravagant --- a brushed metallic vibe, which makes it more of an industrial appearance incorporated to a two-toned partial glass black panel design at the rear. Furthermore, Google's fingerprint scanner is located at the back of the device, while Apple may still integrate its Touch ID fingerprint scanner into its front-mounted Home key.

When it comes to weight and resistance to water, Apple's iPhone is thinner and more lightweight. In fact, mere differences are invisible. Apple offers a full IP6 water and dust resistance, while Google's Pixel only offers an IP53 splash proofing certification.

A smartphone's battery life is another thing that users concern about. It is known that iPhone 7 and Google Pixel have their larger Plus model siblings --- iPhone 7 Plus and Google Pixel Plus accordingly. The bigger the handset, the longer and more improved battery life performance it will have. Both Google Pixel and iPhone 7 are almost similar. Google Pixel only has a slightly longer battery life than iPhone 7, but it is still no way near the Plus models.

Both Google Pixel and iPhone 7 promise great features and specs for its target market. However, both handsets and their sister models are expensive because of what both handsets can offer for its users.

The choice between going for an Android phone or an iPhone is entirely based on prior purchases. iPhone users who have been loyal for quite some time and invests their hard-earned cash in Apple's products and software seldom leave. Ditto for Android. However, Google doesn't usually release a brand new phone --- a move that might attract and interest more smartphone fanatics in the long run, according to Know Your Mobile.
