It seems like there will be no 31st season for "The Simpsons." Speculations are rife that the series' 30th season will be its last as Fox Broadcasting Company is allegedly planning to cancel the show soon.
The cancellation rumors started after FOX has not given an official renewal order for "The Simpsons." It can be recalled that the animated sitcom was last renewed for seasons 27 and 28 on May 4, 2015.
According to Movie News Guide, the renewal odds for the long-time running animated sitcom is completely low considering that the show has been criticized for what many perceived as a decline in quality throughout the years.
Nonetheless, fans must take the claims with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed by Fox Broadcasting Company yet.
In other news, "The Simpsons'" longtime writer and producer, Kevin Curran, passed away at the age of 59 on Oct. 25, Tuesday, in Los Angeles. It is said that Curran died of complications from cancer.
"Kevin Curran was a sweet, brilliant man who said many hilarious things, some unprintable, others which will live forever in a children's cartoon," executive producer and showrunner Al Jean said in a statement sent to The Hollywood Reporter.
Set in the anecdotal town of Springfield, "The Simpsons" follows the Simpson family - namely Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The series, which premiered on Dec. 17, 1989, parodies American culture, society, television, and the human condition.
