It appears that fans will still have to wait a little longer as latest reports suggested that the 3rd season of Adult Swim's "Rick and Morty" might be delayed.

At the Magic City Comic-Con in January, co-creator Dan Harmon assured fans that "Rick and Morty" Season 3 will hit the airwaves before the year ends. He added that the upcoming season will have longer and darker 14-episodes as opposed to its previous season.

"I think Season 3 is-we're targeting around the end of this year," Harmon said at the panel. "You guys do realize we're at the beginning of this year?"

Since then, little has been said about the series' air date. The lack of update apparently led fans to speculate that the popular sci-fi series will not air in December. Instead, it will presumably hit the small screens in early 2017.

It is important to note that nothing has been officially confirmed about the series' much-awaited return date. Thus, the delay news should be taken with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, Harmon dropped new details about the show's premiere episode. In a recent interview, the co-creator revealed their plans to revisit the plots from the last two seasons and incorporate them in "Rick and Morty" Season 3's new storyline.

"I re-watched [Seasons 1 & 2] a couple nights ago, and now I'm excited about revisiting stuff in season three because I was so phobic about revisiting stuff in season two," said Harmon, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter. "Now, we can fade in on Blips and Chitz because we've already proven that the show isn't going to start eating itself, and that will feel even more limitless if we go back to a couple things that we really enjoyed doing."

In light of this, Movie Pilot speculated that viewers will see Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith making their way to the Dog World in the premiere episode of Season 3.
