It has been months since augmented-reality "Pokémon GO" was launched, but aspiring trainers have yet to catch a glimpse of the much awaited Legendary Pokémon.
In the latest episode of the Recode Decode podcast, Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke said that there are more things in store for the popular mobile game, and the team is only recovering from the game's successful launch.
"It's been a busy two months," Hanke said, "so we're now happy that we're kind of stabilized and able to start being a little more thoughtful about the next set of features that we want to build."
Hanke also hinted at plans of launching huge events for "Pokémon GO," confirming that more "group content" is coming in the future.
"There's another layer to it in Ingress, and you're just beginning to see elements of it in Pokemon GO today," the Niantic CEO said, "but you'll see more in the future where the game design features that encourage people in groups, who may live even in different cities or maybe even live hundreds of thousands of miles away to cooperate."
It has been much speculated that these events will bring the much anticipated appearance of the Legendary Pokémon Mew, Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres in "Pokémon GO."
Hanke did not explicitly confirm that they are releasing the legendaries soon, although he did say during a separate panel at TechCrunch's Disrupt SF 2016 that the team will hold events and introduce new Pokémon to keep the game fresh.
The Niantic CEO has been completely vague about their future plans for the game, so fans should not hold their breath for any Legendary appearances soon.
Hanke has also teased about Ditto during the Disrupt event, but data miners have confirmed that there are no references to a Ditto easter egg in "Pokémon GO" yet.
According to Pokémon GO Hub, there are no codes referencing Ditto in the game at the moment. Some speculated that Ditto can be caught in the game disguised as a different Pokémon, but this has now been debunked.
Stay tuned for more "Pokémon GO" news and updates.
