There is a glimmer of hope for Playstation 4 owners as it looks like "Skyrim" fans will be getting mod support for the console after all.
Fans have been left sorely disappointed when Bethesda announced last week that Sony will not support the use of mods on its console.
"Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either 'Fallout 4' or 'Skyrim Special Edition'," Bethesda said in an official statement on their website.
Bethesda has also expressed their disappointment in the move as well, but that does not stop them from trying other options. The company said that the team is hoping to find other ways to bring user mods to the PS4.
It looks like Bethesda will stay true to their word, as evidenced by a post by Pete Hines on Twitter, in response to a fan question.
"We can't get into specifics," Hines responded, "We still want to get mod support of some kind out on PS4."
"If we didn't care, we wouldn't commit to keep working on it and find a way to make something happen," Hines also said in response to another Twitter user.
Some people, however, still questioned Bethesda's reasons for failing to bring mods to PS4, pointing out that another game "Farming Simulator 17," had no issues with porting their own mods to the console.
"Lots of things can follow under the umbrella of 'mods'," Hines replied, "but are very different technically and in scope/scale."
The game publisher first announced the release of "Skyrim Special Edition" during its press conference at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, which came as a pleasant surprise for fans of the game.
The developers at Bethesda Game Studios confirmed on its Twitter page that "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" Remaster is something that they have wanted to do for a long time.
The "Skyrim Special Edition" will be released on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28.
