Those who are already breezing through "Fallout 4"'s DLC may have already seen an NPC named Evan somewhere along their travels. His backstory, however, will literally bring you to tears.
Months ago, Redditor NoohjXLVII has written a lengthy post about how "Fallout 4" and Bethesda helped him cope with a recent family tragedy. His dad, named Greg, has passed away last year, and he was able to take comfort in the game, naming a bipedal sentry bot GR-36 who accompanies him during his travels.
Unfortunately, another family tragedy struck. His younger brother, Evan, has recently passed away due to diabetes-related complications, Forbes reported.
"I lost my first friend. My brother Evan. Such an amazing lad. So kind, uplifting, optimistic and caring. It's unfair he was taken from us," the Redditor wrote on his post. "Our kids were supposed to grow up together. But alas he didn't get to have any kids yet."
In one of the most tearjerking moves ever, Bethesda has immortalized Evan in "Fallout 4," in the form of an NPC in "Nuka-World."
Dubbed as "Good Guy Evan" by players, he will offer to give them a Nuka-Cola recipe, as well as telling them to help themselves with whatever they can find in his trailer.
"Don't feel guilty about taking his stuff!" says NoohJXLVII in another post. "He insists you take it and in real life he would give you the shirt off of his back to help those in need."
Apart from making his late brother an NPC in "Fallout 4," Bethesda also sent the Redditor a care package, which includes tons of "Fallout" goodies and a handwritten letter from the community manager of Bethesda Softworks. The images can be found here.
"Thank you Bethesda for providing me with this wonderful game and distraction for everything I'm going through," the Redditor said. "It's going to suck wandering this real world without my little brother. But at least he got to meet my son."
